What can make your worst day into one of your most productive days?
My husband moved to a new job in a new building. He had facilitated meetings online before and yesterday was his first meeting at his new job. The “big boss” flew in from California and was in the room.
First, the system did not come up automatically. The split screen did not work. Not all the documents populated. The slides did not show on his laptop. You get the picture – it was a disaster!
My husband came home peaceful and happy. Surprised? I was blown away! This was not his usual state of mind when things go wrong.
What was the secret?
Supportive colleagues working together on a solution. His boss helped him in the room. His out-of-state co-workers were giving him suggestions. No one got upset or impatient.
His boss told him later, he did better than the last guy in his position who ran the system for the first time. He is a leader who knows how to encourage and support his staff.
My husband works with a supportive team in a healthy work environment. Together, they get more accomplished because of how they choose to spend their time – working together versus complaining.
This is the secret to getting more done.
