Are You Tired of Being Afraid?

God makes things new. He is never unprepared. He is always aware of what we are feeling and doing. He knows us and accepts us for who we are right now today. Who else can you say that about?

We are living in a strange time with a pandemic sweeping the country, the world. If we look at the surface, it is very scary. Not knowing how this will all end makes us afraid. Being out-of-control over our lives and the behaviors of others makes us angry.

Even when we are not in control, God is in control. Some may ask, why doesn’t He stop this virus if He is in control? Others may say He started the virus. Just as with close friends and family, when we are close with God, we can trust He has a plan. We may not like the process because we cannot see the big picture.

God is a “big picture” guy. He cares about everyone even those who do not believe in Him. Just as a CEO balances her decisions on what’s good for the company, shareholders and employees, God carefully balances our personal needs with the needs of our country and our world.

He did not cause the pandemic; He was prepared for it. Maybe you cannot see it, yet rest assured He has been working for our good. It is easier to see how He is working in my personal life. However, I see how things are changing in our world for the better as a result of working together.

It is in times of extreme circumstances such as these our true character is determined. We become more innovative in the ways we socialize while maintaining social distancing. Scientists and researchers are finding new ways of successfully treating the virus. Organizations have figured out ways to conduct business from home.

Our world is forever changed. Look at our country’s history to see the inventions born out of necessity during a war or epidemic. It forces us out of our complacency to work with our enemies against a common foe. Something I hope continues after the pandemic is over.

Some may find my message offensive or ridiculous because I’m not afraid. I follow the mandates for safety, yet I do not live in fear. It is because I know my God. He’s my confidant, my friend, my healer, my protector, my strength. Without Him, I would be afraid.

If you are tired of being afraid, you can pray this simple prayer by Joel Osteen:

“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart, wash me clean, I make you my Lord and Savior.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7xSw21YusI)

There are several great ministers online or on the radio who have people standing by to help you walk in your new faith. They are there for you when you are afraid, grieving or angry. God can handle all your negative emotions and help you find peace.

God Bless!

Jean
