The Truth About What Happens When You Give Up

I’ve been there, many times in fact. That moment when you decide whether to push through or give up.

It’s not an easy choice. You want the happy ending. The problem is you are not sure you can make it. You want to give up.

Your commitment is determined by your desire.

How much you want it determines how bad you’ll feel if you give up. Just wanting something is not a strong enough emotion to keep you going.

If you can live without it, giving up is easy. It’s when you really need something or if its’ your passion, giving up causes the most pain.

What will your life be like if you choose to give up?

It’s more than living with the physical pain. Giving up can make us feel like a failure. We are too weak to handle it. Maybe we are not smart enough, don’t deserve it or feel unworthy of the prize at the end.

Think about what your life will look and feel like if you choose to give up.

‘Going through’ means it’s a process with an ending.

Here’s the thing about going through the pain instead of giving up. There is an end and you must believe it will be better than what you are currently experiencing.

Whether emotional or physical pain, you have the power to decide what to do. If you give up, you’ll add to your pain. If you choose to go through the pain now, you will feel brave, strong and able to handle the next challenge.

The voice in your head may not be your own.

Whose voice do you hear in your head telling you to give up? Perhaps it’s the voice of a parent, teacher, coach, critic, friend or loved one. If it’s telling you to give up, chances are it is not your voice you are hearing.

You desire this to happen. You need the pain to go away to have the life you deserve. This is what your voice sounds like in your head.

This is the voice you want to hear – the one telling you, you’re worth it!

Giving up can cause regret.

The times I regretted are when I listened to the voices of others. I told myself I could no longer handle the pain. What I was really telling myself is ‘I am not worth it’.

Once you start giving up, it’s easy to continue down this path. You’re telling yourself you are a failure; you’re weak; you don’t deserve something better.  Don’t listen to this voice! It’s a voice from your past, not your voice for your future.

You are worth it.

No matter where you are in this process or how long it’s been since you tried – you can make it! I’m living proof that life is better on the other side.

If you cannot hear your own voice now, hear mine – “You can do this. You are not alone. You are worth it. You deserve the life you desire.” This is what God says to me.

What have you experienced when you decided to give up?

God Bless!
Jean
